We have a tradition, every January first, to spend the day in quiet celebration of Texas' favorite son: Robert Ervin Howard, creator of Conan the Barbarian. Until recently, this was a private observance - but this year, you're invited. The day is January first, 2012. The occasion is Conan Day. The topic? Savagery - savagery in the form most romanticized and accesible to lillly white cartoonists who've never worked a day in their lives. Next time, on Zayo, we'll be trying something a little different, in honor of Mr. Howard and my most sacred holiday. It's new, it's way-out, it's bizarre - and to make matters worse, it's a surprise. Enjoy the season, stay warm, and join us on the first of the new year - when this space will be given over to fire and hot-blooded battle. Comic strips will be involved. Saying more would be to damage the solemnity of the occasion. Hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
